ULINK DA Drive Analyzer’s AI-based drive failure prediction application for ASUSTOR NAS users was recently launched by ULINK Technology. ASUSTOR is a leading network attached storage (NAS) manufacturer.  In this interview, ULINK CEO Joseph Chen answers some pertinent questions about the DA ASUSTOR NAS Application 2.0, the new application.

What is the DA ASUSTOR NAS Application 2.0?

Joseph Chen: The DA ASUSTOR NAS Application 2.0 is the gateway to AI-driven technology for monitoring the health of storage drives. ASUSTOR NAS users can use it to upload their drive health data to DA Drive Analyzer‘s servers. It then analyzes the data using AI technology to arrive at a prediction regarding drive health and potential failures. The user receives real-time alerts and notifications regarding the drive health and can make informed decisions regarding the maintenance of the drive performance.

What drive models are supported by the DA ASUSTOR NAS App?

Joseph Chen: The ASUSTOR NAS App supports 99+% of commercial drives on the market, and includes SSDs, HDDs, SATA drives, NVMe drives, as well as SCSI/SAS drives.

Who is it for?

Joseph Chen: The DA ASUSTOR NAS app is primarily for home users and business professionals who use ASUSTOR NAS to store their data.

What pain point is the DA ASUSTOR NAS App solving for its users?

Joseph Chen: Home users and business professionals typically do not have the resources and the know-how to deal with performance and health issues of drives. They depend on technology like SMART trips which just give a limited time like a 24-hour window before a drive fails. That leaves them with virtually no time to back up their data and replace the drive. They also do not alert you to the deteriorating health of the drive, which in turn can affect the performance of the drive and affect the user’s work. SMART trips is an old technology which is of little use in the current data critical world.

On the other hand, the AI used by the ASUSTOR NAS App generally gives you weeks of advance warning before failure. It can catch about 7 to 8 times more failing drives than SMART Trips.
